While the mains and the bypass of the commercial UPS cannot be isolated, in commercial backup systems and can only come from the same power grid.

Risk factors

In industrial environments, the interruption of AC power may cause dangerous chemical process instability, there is usually a higher ambient temperature and more contamination in the air, so industrial UPS systems are meant to resist extreme temperatures and mild amounts of non-conductive dust. But Commercial UPS systems aren’t technically demanding and typically only require UL and CSA safety certifications. In a data center, the interim of AC power may disrupt data processing, but it doesn’t create an intrinsic risk of injury to people or property.
