Maintaining an SLA battery
One potential shortcoming of a sealed lead-acid battery is that due to the incapacity to maintain the battery, it may not perform at optimum levels as its flooded counterpart.
Most of the problems can be reduced by proper handling and battery life can be lengthened. To keep lead acid in useful condition, apply a fully saturated charge lasting 14 to 16 hours. If the charge cycle does not qualify this, give the SLA battery a fully saturated charge once every few weeks. If possible, operate at a sensible temperature and avoid deep discharges; charge as often as you can.
